Vocabulary of Architecture
Lee Siltons art reflects her fascination with dimension, the exploration of space, and working with widely varied media such as metal and wood, creating a microcosmic sense of the environment in both sculptures and wall pieces. Her formal art training includes Boston Museum Fine Art School and Northeastern University. She has studied with world-renowned artists such as Henry Hensche, Steven Trefonodes and Moe Com. Lee Silton was first established as an artist in Florida in 1975, where she opened her own studio and was highly successful. Among her many projects, in 1995 she assisted in spearheading a collaboration of women artists work in West Palm Bach entitled Breaking the Glass Ceiling, which was exhibited in the Armory, She has also contributed to many gallery art exhibits including, the De Cordova Museum, Lexington, Massachusetts in 1962, the Prudential Building, Boston, Massachusetts in 1974, and at Northwood University, Palm Beach, Florida in the 1990šs. Much of her work has been purchased for public spaces, by corporations, hotels, and residences. She describes her recent sculptures as a glimpse of men and women in their struggles, and in making choices. The boxes represent what holds back the pursuit of the quest for individuality. No matter what she creates and what medium she uses, her message is about the balance between individuality, shaping and reshaping our lives.
